Our Beliefs

Jesus summarized the entire law of God in a very simple statement: “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:37-40). All our beliefs are practiced through the lens of this Great Commandment as a safeguard from drifting into doctrinal pride which clings to the letter of the law (information) rather than the Spirit of the law (transformation).

GOD: We believe there is but one living and true God, who is one in essence, while eternally existing in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

FATHER: We believe in God the Father, Creator of the heavens and the earth, giver of life, who graciously involves Himself in the affairs of men, hears and answers prayer, and saves from sin and death through faith in Jesus Christ

SON: We believe that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life and the only way for salvation and eternal life. He is both the eternal Son of God and virgin-born Son of man. Having led a sinless life, He satisfied the Father's justice concerning our sin by His death on the cross. He was raised from the dead on the third day, ascended physically to heaven, and will return to judge the nations of the earth and reign forever as King of kings and Lord of lords.

HOLY SPIRIT: We believe the Holy Spirit is the promise of the Father, the Comforter, who indwells and places every believer in the body of Christ, endows the church with special gifts to accomplish God's work, and convicts the world of sin, justice, and judgment. While all believers are in-dwelt by the Spirit of God (Romans 8), we believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a specific endowment of power for service and is separate from conversion.

THE BIBLE: We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, the supreme authority of faith and practice for the believer in Jesus Christ, and the perfect standard of truth that does not contradict itself and is the same regardless of time or place.

THE NATURE OF MAN: We believe that man was directly created in the image of God to enjoy His fellowship and to fulfill God's will on this earth. Man fell into sin by a voluntary act of personal disobedience to the will of God. Consequently, all humanity is spiritually dead and subject to the certainty of physical death and eternal separation from God in hell, apart from Jesus Christ, for having broken the holy law of God. This spiritually deadening effect spread to all men, each of whom is born with a sinful nature and sins habitually in thought, word and deed.

SALVATION: Salvation is the inheritance of eternal life given by God to all who respond to the gospel. It is a free gift of God, provided by grace alone, obtained through faith alone, because of Christ alone, for the glory of God alone. Good works are not the requirement for salvation but the evidence of true salvation.

THE CHURCH: The Church is the Body of Christ on the earth and is meant to lead men to Christ and mature them in the faith (Ephesians 4:1-16). All who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit belong to this Body and are directed by the Scriptures to associate themselves in local, visible churches.

ORDINANCES OF THE CHURCH: We believe that the ordinances of the church, by the command of Christ, are Water Baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper, both of which are administered to those who are born again.

THE FUTURE: We believe that the next great event of human history will be the personal return of Jesus Christ. This is the blessed hope, for which all those who love Jesus Christ yearn. Though the time of Christ's return is a mystery known only to the Father Himself, we believe that it is as sure as Jesus’ first coming was fact. We believe in the resurrection of the dead and life everlasting in the presence of God for those who believe. We believe in the reality of a place called hell, which is reserved for Satan and his demons and for those who reject Christ and the forgiveness He offers.

SEXUALITY: We believe God’s plan for human sexuality is to be expressed only within the context of marriage between a man and a woman. This monogamous relationship between male and female is the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5–6; Mark 10:6–9; Romans 1:26–27; 1 Corinthians 6:9.

HUMAN LIFE: We believe that human life is sacred from the moment of conception until its natural end and that we must serve with compassion the spiritual and physical needs of our fellowmen, including widows, single mothers, and those affected by physical disability. Psalm 139:13; Isaiah 49:1; Jeremiah 1:5; Matthew 22:37–39; Romans 12:20–21; Galatians 6:10.
